A Paladin's armour is something they keep close - Paladins are treated as always 'on the job' and thus, symbolically, they are never intended to remove their armour. Over generations, armour was eventually anchored to the skeleton via attach hardpoints, drilled into the bone and reinforced with steel. Although the armour is uncomfortable in this state, and actually raises chance of injury, it cannot be removed.
